Student life at IAR extends far beyond the classroom. We think our community of students and faculty is the most exciting anywhere, and we make a point of enriching it in every way we can.
Student lounges provide space for studying and socializing with other students, whether in between classes or before you’re ready to go home. Many of our students wind up working with each other, based on friendships formed during “down time” at IAR.
One of the best aspects of life at IAR is right outside our door: vibrant Greenwich Village and Union Square. Live music, great food, and a vibrant cultural scene are always just steps away. It’s the best location in the best city for learning about audio engineering and music production.
Our faculty has put together a library for students who want to check up on something they learned, or just want to learn about something new. Our library contains books, periodicals and other materials on recording, audio and computer technology, sound reinforcement, the music business, music theory, and production.
Although IAR does not maintain dormitories, we can assist in directing students to suitable housing facilities. Our housing page contains some starting points for finding housing that is both affordable and convenient.
