Off-Campus Housing The Institute of Audio Research is centrally located in Manhattan and accessible to major subway lines and commuter transportation. We are in the famous Greenwich Village area, but you do not have to live in the neighborhood to be close to the school. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Department for help. We live here, have found places to live ourselves, know friends and students who have found apartments, and are happy to share what we know with you. Student Housing Resources Our out-of-town students often find accommodation at the Educational Housing Service. To find out more about this service, please call 1-800-297-4694 or visit their website at studenthousing.org. Apartment Listing Resources New listings of available apartments appear online every day, so even if you are not in New York City, you can get a sense of what kinds of apartments are available in different neighborhoods at different rents. While searching for an apartment, keep in mind that many of our students commute from New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, and the other boroughs (the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island) of New York City. The Brandon Residence for Women, which provides housing for women only, may be contacted via phone at 212-496-6901, fax at 212-769-2629, and eMail at brandon@voa-gny.org. Craigslist is also a popular way to find apartment listings. New apartments appear every day of the week. The Hudson Reporter The New York Times carries new listings every day but the most new listings appear in the Sunday issue every week. Roommates.com RentShare.com Sublet.com The Village Voice also has listings online and comes out every Wednesday. Again, if you have any questions, please contact us. IAR’s central location and the Tri-State Area’s great public transportation should allow you to find an affordable and convenient place to live. |
