A Foundation for a Career in Music Production and Audio Engineering
IAR’s Audio Recording and Production program is taught by accomplished music and sound professionals. IAR teaches students what they need to know today, emphasizing the audio fundamentals of music production techniques. Our program provides hands-on experience with technical knowledge for a broad career foundation.
A Broad Base of Experience
Over the 900-hour program, students build a broad foundation for a career in music production and audio engineering. This means not just working with digital audio in computer software, but also working with digital and analog audio hardware components to understand what happens behind the technology. It means learning how to set up a recording studio with mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, speakers and cables. It also means learning about how we hear and respond to sound. We teach our students how to adapt to changing technologies and conditions.
IAR instructors know that music is a business. Whether networking with industry professionals and other students, or dealing with writers, producers, and managers, our students receive unmatched insight into the music business.

With an extraordinary roster of faculty and more than three decades of experience, IAR has earned an outstanding reputation among leading employers in the music business. IAR students have worked at Sony Music, Right Track Recording, Unique Recording Studios, Arista Records and other leading companies.
